How can I make sure I'm talking to Sky Protect?

If you're contacted by a company claiming to offer a Sky endorsed service plan or Sky approved insurance, or claiming to be calling on behalf of Sky or Domestic & General, here's what to look out for:

  • The name of their company. If they are not from Domestic & General they are not officially approved or endorsed by Sky.
  • The name of the plan they offer. If it's not Sky Protect, it's not officially approved or endorsed by Sky.
  • The ability to confirm your Sky account number, your box type and when you first subscribed to Sky. Only Sky Protect advisors will have these details.

If they're not able to answer these questions, they're not Sky Protect. It's as simple as that.

How can I avoid being misled?

Other companies can offer a repair plan to protect your digital satellite equipment. But they can't say they are Sky or that they are contacting you with our permission. They're acting unlawfully if they do. Sky has successfully brought claims against some companies for misleading Sky customers in this way.

Does Sky provide these other companies with my details?

No, Sky will never authorise the disclosure of your details to these companies, nor do we permit these companies to use Sky customers' information in any way.

Sky actively monitors companies selling repair plans for digital satellite equipment that it receives complaints about, including the source of the data used by those companies.
