Sky Protect HD

  1. What is Sky Protect HD?
    Sky Protect HD is the only extended warranty scheme for Sky HD boxes that is approved and operated under the Sky brand name. Sky Protect HD is provided by Domestic & General Services Ltd.

    Independent companies can legitimately offer extended warranties on digital satellite equipment, but these companies and their products are not connected to Sky or in any way endorsed by Sky. It is illegal for companies other than Domestic & General Services Ltd to state or imply that they are approved by Sky to sell extended warranty products.

    If you have a complaint regarding an independent company, you may take it up directly with the company concerned, and you may also complain to the trading standards department of your local council. If you wish to provide us with details, please call us on 08444 810 108 (Lines are open 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 11pm Saturday and Sunday. Calls cost up to 5 pence a minute from a BT landline; mobile and other providers' charges may vary).

  2. What does the Sky Protect HD extended warranty include?
    Every Sky HD box is issued with a one-year manufacturer's guarantee. Sky Protect HD is an extended warranty plan that gives your Sky equipment protection after your one-year manufacturer's guarantee expires.

    However, there are benefits to purchasing Sky Protect HD whilst you're still in your manufacturer's guarantee as we'll upgrade your guarantee to include damage caused by accident completely free of charge. This includes protection for all your Sky equipment – not just your box – including your remote control, minidish, all satellite and HDMI cabling and Sky wireless router, plus protection against everything from minor faults to damage caused by accident until the end of your manufacturer's guarantee.

    Then your Sky entertainment will enjoy complete protection for another full year when your Sky Protect HD plan starts, giving you priceless peace of mind.

  3. What will you do if my Sky equipment breaks down?
    When you take out Sky Protect HD, you'll be able to call us on 08444 810 255 for help 8am – 11pm Monday to Friday, or 9am – 11pm on Saturdays and Sundays, if your equipment breaks down. If we can't repair your Sky HD box then we'll replace it, subject to the full terms and conditions of your plan.
  4. What equipment is protected?
    Your Sky Protect HD plan will look after all Sky boxes no matter how many you have as well as protecting the following:

    • Mini–dish
    • LNB and all your satellite cabling
    • tvLINK & IR blaster
    • Sky remote control
    • Sky Broadband wireless router
    • HDMI cable

  5. How much is Sky Protect HD?
    Sky Protect HD costs £99 a year, which can be paid in one go, or as twelve monthly payments of £8.25.

    Included in the price is protection for your minidish, LNB and associated digital satellite cabling, Sky wireless router, remote control, HDMI cable, tvLINK and IR blaster where applicable.

  6. How many boxes does it protect?
    Great news! Sky Protect HD will look after all your Sky boxes no matter how many you have.
  7. Why have my payments changed?
    To give you the best value possible, we tailor the cost of our plans according to the type and age of your Sky box. As it gets older, you may find that the fee will change slightly to reflect increased wear and tear.
  8. How do I pay for my plan?
    You may pay for your Sky Protect HD plan by Direct Debit, or as a one-off payment by credit/debit card or by cheque/postal order.

    If you wish to pay by monthly interest-free Direct Debit instalments, or make a one-off payment by card, please sign up online or call us on 08444 810 255.

    Please note that the Sky Protect HD Direct Debit is separate from your Sky subscription payments.

  9. My reference number isn't working
    1. Is the postcode different?
      You need to use the postcode as it is written on the letter. If your postcode is incorrect, use this one for now, and then you'll be able to edit your details once you are in the system.

    2. Have you typed a number instead of a letter?
      As a rule, the first three or four characters of your unique reference number can be letters or numbers. The last seven characters are always numbers.

    3. Is the space in your reference number causing a problem?
      Try entering your number with and without the space.

    4. Are you using the reference number from your Sky letter?
      This unique reference number refers to Sky Protect HD only, not any other appliance or communication you may have received.

  10. Does the price increase if I have more than one repair?
    No – we don't believe in penalising customers because they need a repair. We do not raise the price of your plan if you need an engineer – you can call us as many times as you need to.

    If you have a problem with your Sky box, please give us a call as soon as it's convenient on 08444 810 444 to get you back up and running again as soon as possible.

  11. Does the price of the plan change depending on the number of boxes I have?
    Sky Protect HD will protect all Sky Boxes in your home regardless of the amount you have, for the same fee outlined above. You can also protect your TV alongside your Sky HD box – find out how here.

Sky Protect HD Bundle

  1. What is a Sky Protect HD Bundle?
    Sky Protect HD Bundle is an extended warranty scheme designed for Sky HD customers to protect their TV as well as their Sky+HD box in order to safeguard their Sky viewing enjoyment. You need to be a Sky HD customer in order to take out a Sky Protect HD Bundle, Sky Protect HD Bundle is provided by Domestic & General Services Ltd.
  2. What does the Sky Protect HD Bundle extended warranty include?
    We want you to be able to enjoy your Sky all the time – that's why we've devised a Sky Protect HD Bundle. The bundle looks after your television set in case of breakdown (and damage caused by accident too, if it's under five years old when you take out protection) as well as all of the Sky boxes in your home. All engineers are quality approved by Domestic & General and you won't pay a penny in parts, labour or call-out charges if we send an engineer to repair your television.

  3. How much is a Sky Protect HD Bundle?
    The price of a Sky Protect HD Bundle depends on the age, make, and original price of your television set. You can get a free, instant quote on our quote page and you can protect up to four televisions as well as your Sky+HD box.
