What is Sky Protect?

Sky Protect is the only insurance endorsed by Sky. And it‘s provided by Domestic & General, the UK‘s leading specialist warranty provider. If any of your Sky equipment breaks down or gets accidentally damaged, Sky Protect will get you up and running again at no extra cost. It covers your minidish, remotes, cabling, Sky wireless router, wireless connector and Sky boxes.

If something goes wrong, you can call our dedicated UK technical helpline seven days a week. We‘ll send you a We’ll send you a Sky-approved engineer as soon as we can, even at the weekend. Repairs won‘t cost you a penny more, and if we can‘t fix it we‘ll replace it*.

You'll also be able to request an annual Sky equipment healthcheck too. This will help to make sure it‘s set up properly and is in good working order.

Is Sky Protect the only insurance endorsed by Sky?

Sky Protect is the only insurance that is endorsed by Sky and operates under the Sky brand name. Sky Protect is provided by Domestic & General Insurance PLC.

Other companies can offer you cover for your digital satellite equipment. It is against the law for them to say that they are Sky or that they‘re contacting you with permission from Sky, just something to keep an eye out for.

Can I take out Sky Protect during my manufacturer‘s warranty?

Yes you can. Sky Protect complements your manufacturer‘s warranty by covering your equipment against accidental damage. Once your manufacturer‘s warranty has come to an end you‘ll also get a further full year‘s cover against breakdown and accidental damage.

How much is Sky Protect?

The price of Sky Protect depends on the type of your main Sky box. The prices below include all relevant taxes.

  • Standard Sky box - from £69^
    or 12 x Monthly Payments £5.75^
  • Sky+ box - from £99
    or 12 x Monthly Payments £8.25
  • Sky+HD box - from £99
    or 12 x Monthly Payments £8.25

^Price may vary depending on the age of the box. The £5.75 per month/£69.00 one-off price is for cover for a Sky Standard box aged 13 to 35 months.

How many boxes does it protect? And does the price vary depending on the number of boxes I have?

Sky Protect looks after all the boxes in your home provided they are all registered to the same Sky account. The extra boxes are protected at no extra cost. It doesn‘t matter if you have the boxes when you first take out Sky Protect or if you add them in the future.

What does the annual Sky equipment healthcheck include?

Every year, you can request an annual healthcheck on your Sky equipment to make sure it‘s set up properly and is in good working order.

Our technical helpline experts will guide you through a variety of recommended remote resolution processes. These will help with checking signal strength, LNB reboots and signal retuning.

Sky+,Sky+HD and Sky+HD 1TB customers can also get help with hard disc management issues and how to run a planner rebuild.

How can I pay for my policy?

You can pay for your Sky Protect policy by Direct Debit or credit/debit card.

Please note that the Sky Protect Direct Debit is separate from your Sky subscription payments.

Does the price increase if I have more than one repair?

No. Sky Protect covers you for as many repairs as you need at no extra cost.

Is the dish included in Sky Protect?

Yes. Did you know Sky Protect also covers:

Yes. Engineers are available for call-outs seven days a week, even at the weekends*.

Is there an insurance excess to pay?

No. All costs are included in the price of Sky Protect. There‘s no hidden insurance excess or additional call-out charges.

If you‘re still within the first 12 months of your Sky subscription contract, just call Sky on 08442 414 141. If you‘re outside the first 12 months of your Sky subscription contract, you can still take out Sky Protect and get a repair at the same time. Call 08442 414 141 for more information.
