  1. What is Sky Protect?

    Sky Protect is Sky’s official warranty service. If any of your equipment develops a fault or gets damaged by accident, it gets you up and running again without charging you a penny.

    Sky Protect looks after all your Sky equipment, including your minidish, remote control and any extra boxes in your home. If something goes wrong, you can call our dedicated technical helpline 7 days a week.

    We’ll send you a Sky-trained engineer as soon as possible, even on weekends. Repairs won’t cost you a penny, and we’ll replace any broken equipment free of charge.

  2. Is Sky Protect the only warranty endorsed by Sky?

    Sky Protect is the only extended warranty scheme that is approved and operated under the Sky brand name. Sky Protect is provided by Domestic & General Services Limited.

    Independent companies can legitimately offer extended warranties on digital satellite equipment, but these companies and their products are not connected to Sky or in any way endorsed by Sky. It is illegal for companies other than Domestic & General to state or imply that they are approved by Sky to sell extended warranty products.

    If you have a complaint regarding an independent company, you may take it up directly with the company concerned, and you may also complain to the trading standards department of your local council. If you wish to provide us with further details, please call us on 08444 810 108. Lines are open 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 11pm Saturday and Sunday.

  3. Can I take out Sky Protect during my manufacturer’s guarantee?

    Yes you can. Your period of protection will begin after your one-year manufacturer’s guarantee expires. As an added bonus, we’ll upgrade the remainder of your manufacturer's warranty to include damage caused by accident, completely free of charge.

  4. What equipment is protected?

    Your Sky Protect plan includes:

    • An unlimited number of Sky boxes in your home
    • Your minidish
    • Your remote control
    • Your cabling
    • PLUS your Sky wireless router (if you have one)

  5. How much is Sky Protect?

    The price of Sky Protect depends on the type of Sky box you have:

    • Standard Sky box - from £69*
      or 12 x Monthly Payments £5.75
    • Sky+ box - from £99
      or 12 x Monthly Payments £8.25
    • Sky+HD box - from £99
      or 12 x Monthly Payments £8.25

    *Prices for a standard sky protect plan may increase dependent on the age of your box.

  6. How many boxes does it protect?

    Sky Protect looks after ALL the boxes in your home, provided they are of the same or lesser type as your main box.

    For example, if you take out Sky Protect for your Sky+HD box, it will also look after any other Sky+HD boxes, Sky+boxes or standard Sky boxes in your home.

    If you take out Sky Protect for a standard Sky box, it will look after any other standard Sky boxes in your home.

  7. How can I pay for my plan?

    You can pay for your Sky Protect plan online by Direct Debit or credit/debit card.

    Please note that the Sky Protect Direct Debit is separate from your Sky subscription payments.

  8. Does the price increase if I have more than one repair?

    No! We don't believe in penalising customers because they need a repair. You can call us out as many times as you need to.

  9. Does the price of the plan change depending on the number of boxes I have?

    No. Sky Protect looks after ALL the boxes in your home, provided they are of the same or lesser type as your main box.

    For example, if you take out Sky Protect for your Sky+HD box, it will also look after any other Sky+HD boxes, Sky+boxes or standard Sky boxes in your home.

    If you take out Sky Protect for a standard Sky box, it will look after any other standard Sky boxes in your home.

  10. Is it totally secure to sign up online?

    Sky Protect is committed to security. All information exchanged online is encrypted using SSL software and we make every effort to ensure confidentiality of your personal data. The site uses Thawte's Digital IDs to ensure the best possible protection for our customers. Furthermore, all customer data we collect is protected against unauthorised access. We are committed to providing a fraud-free web customer interface.

  11. Will an accredited Sky engineer visit?
    Yes. Sky Protect is the only repair plan endorsed by Sky. You can rest assured that we will only send Sky-trained engineers to your home to repair your equipment.
  12. Is the dish included in Sky Protect?

    Yes. Sky Protect will look after:

    • An unlimited number of Sky boxes in your home
    • Your minidish
    • Your remote control
    • Your cabling
    • PLUS your Sky wireless router (if you have one)
  13. Do Sky engineers visit at weekends or in the evenings?

    Yes. Engineers are available for call-outs seven days a week, including evenings.

  14. Is there an excess fee to pay on any claim?

    No, all costs are included in the initial price of the Sky Protect plan. There are no excesses to pay or claim forms to fill out.
